Solway shrimps are caught by a small fishing fleet that is harboured in the town’s old dock. Still operating today, their catch is sold all over the UK.

Walking and Cycling
The level countryside of the Solway plain provides a variety of interesting walks and easy cycling. Historically, the area is very important and has been designated a world heritage site because of its Roman military remains and Hadrians Wall defence network and must be considered before planning your walk or cycle.
West Beach
The sprawling sands of West Beach have been awarded the prestigious Yellow Flag by the Tidy Britain Group. It is ideal for fishing, picnics and is a popular playground for children.
